Finding a unique gift for the holidays can be a hassle. However, we’re fortunate that Yolo County is full of thriving businesses with unique treasures that make perfect holiday gifts for everyone. Let us take you on a tour of Yolo County to find the best spots for your holiday gifts.

First stop, Woodland.

While strolling down Main Street, you’re bound to find something unique from The Gifted Penguin such as cute cards, garden art, candles, bath soaps, and accessories. Just around the corner on First Street lies Haven A Boutique, where you’ll run into the latest, one-of-a-kind women’s clothing and accessories such as handbags, jewelry, and hats.

Who doesn’t love something for the home? Visit Serendipity Boutique for the Farmhouse style or The White Barn if you’re looking for Shabby Chic furniture and decor. Not too far down the road is The Boxwood Nursery where you can find more than beautiful plants, but a little bit of everything. They carry locally made items such as art, candles and home decor. Need to find something for the newest member of the family? They carry some great gifts such as onesies, blankets, books and stuffed animals for the new bundle of joy.

For the hoppy heads in the family, head on down to Dead Cat Alley for Woodland’s own Blue Note Brewery. There, you’ll find various apparel for the craft beer fan, along with assorted branded glassware to fit your specific ale’s needs. Not to mention….delicious beer to enjoy and take home! So don’t feel too bad about stopping to enjoy a cold one in-between your shopping. By now you may need a break!

Go south toward Davis.

Give the gift of music! Watermelon Music in Davis is the one-stop-shop for the musician in your life. Whether it’s a new instrument or accessories, you can find it here. For the active folks, Ken’s Bike-Ski-Board has the best selection of bicycle, snowboard, and ski gear in the area, and just in time for snow season. For the fashionistas, The Wardrobe and Pinkadot Boutique are both spots full of trendy clothing and accessories you can’t find anywhere else.

Stay West for Winters.

This little town is known for having some of the best local restaurants, shops, and tasting rooms. Just down Main Street, you have to stop into The Clayground, a working ceramic studio, retail shop, and art gallery featuring local, hand-made art and crafts. They sell one-of-a-kind pottery and ceramic pieces, soaps and candles, photography, painting, and jewelry. They even offer ceramic workshops for you and your friends!

For the coffee lover, Steady Eddy’s is a small, family-owned coffee shop named after the friendly cat that used to live beneath the building (RIP Eddy-We miss you!) They offer delicious whole bean coffee and gift cards that you can place in a mug or as part of a whole gift basket. It’s the perfect stocking stuffer!

Now, onto Turkovich Winery and Tasting Room where you’ll find some of the most delicious wine and cheese made right here in Yolo County. They also carry local olive oils and jams that would make for a tasty holiday gift basket. For something extra special, Buckhorn Steakhouse Gift Cards are desired by just about every person in Yolo County. Not only is the food something to be obsessed with, but the atmosphere and historic architecture make your night memorable.

Head north for Capay Valley

In this beautiful valley, you’ll find our friends at Full Belly Farm where they farm organic vegetables, herbs, nuts, flowers, and fruits all year-round. They have great options for the holidays including a sampler box of the goodies you can find at the farm, gorgeous hand-made dried floral wreaths, and a yarn gift box that includes three skeins of yarn from Full Belly sheep, knitting needles, and patterns for knitting the yarn.

Just up the road, you’ll find Seka Hills for the “foodie.” They have gift boxes that you can customize with an assortment of local olive oil and vinegar, wine, honey, nuts, and jerky. Wouldn’t this box make the perfect gift for a holiday exchange? And because dad can always be difficult to shop for, right across the street you can get a gift card to Yocha Dehe Golf Club. For mom, treat her to a special day at the Cache Creek Spa enjoying massages, facials, mani-pedis, the sauna and much more.

With the holidays just around the corner, don’t break the bank trying to expedite shipping on unoriginal holiday gifts. These local businesses play a key role in making Yolo County a wonderful place to live, work and play. Show them a little love this holiday season and give the gift of local to your friends and family. To make your shopping experience a pleasant one, discover 3 Tips to Stress-Free Shopping here.
